Hall of Fame Scholarship Recipients
2023 Recipient - Olivia Liegl
Olivia created a club at SWHS called Unified for Underprivileged girls in her sophomore year. In this club, members discuss women’s rights issues, pen pal underprivileged female students in Kenya, and fundraise/donate money to help their pen pals in Kenya purchase the tools they need to be successful, including school supplies. Under Olivia’s leadership, the club raised over $2000 in donations for their Kenyan pen pals. Throughout South Windsor, the club spreads awareness about various women’s rights issues such as gender wage gaps, abortion rights, and infantilization. They also hold an annual scarf-making event through which they have donated 80 scarves to St. Elizabeth House & The Friendship Center.
